Abstract

This study is motivated by the lack of optimal internalization of the fastabiqul khairāt value among adolescent Qurʾān memorizers in PPS A and PPS B, Batam City, who tend to focus on quantitative memorization rather than deep spiritual meaning. This study aims to analyze understanding, psychological and spiritual experiences, and factors influencing the spirit of fastabiqul khairāt from an Islamic psychology perspective. This research employs a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The participants are adolescents aged 12–18 who actively engage in tahfizh programs and have memorized at least 10 juz. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, supported by triangulation to ensure validity. The findings reveal that fastabiqul khairāt is understood as maintaining quality memorization, application, and spiritual orientation. Psychologically, this spirit is dynamic and influenced by internal factors such as intention and goal awareness, as well as external factors including the boarding school environment. The study concludes that integrating Qurʾānic values with Islamic psychology is essential to strengthen intrinsic motivation and sustain the memorization process.
